So we didn't just miss a a total lunar eclipse, or a Blue Moon, or a supermoon. We missed all three … a super Blue Moon total eclipse! Because of the WEATHER, we didn't get to see this amazing event! What? What? WHAT? First, we missed the Blue Moon – the second of two full moons in January – The January 31 full moon is also the third in a series of three straight full moon supermoons – that is, super-close full moons. The moon is closest to the Earth at this time! Some photos that people in New York, and Florida posted.... This is a good time to review what happens during a total Lunar Eclipse. The Sun and Earth are aligned with the Moon perfectly. The diagram shows the two types of shadows that happen during the alignment that the Moon has to travel through. This was a TRIPLE TREAT and we missed it! SIGH!! HUGE SIGH!! There will be another time, another triple treat....I don't know how old I'll be? But there will be another one.
