The movie Star Wars has inspired many companies and people to create technology that helps us as a society and civilization. Some of these ideas are: Prosthetics: Luke Skywalkers new arm has inspired scientists to create hands, legs, feet and other prosthetics to help people, walk, ski, climb, eat, play sports and so much more. Today scientists are experimenting with false hands and legs that can connect with nerves in the body to help the body feel like there really is a limb there, not a false one. Solar Power Technology: This Imperial fighter uses solar panels for energy in flight. Scientists have developed the same idea to power many of our satellites in space. Robotics: Robots are really becoming a part of our culture today. In Japan they use robots in hotels to welcome people and load their bags onto conveyor belts to transport to their rooms. Lasers: Doctors and scientists have learned how to delicate surgeries using lasers. Many surgeries are much safer because the surgeon doesn't have to make a large opening in the body to repair eyes, gall bladders and knees. A little slit, insert the laser and with small camera's the laser can shave away teeny-tiny tumors or make teeny-tiny repairs. There is so much more! Force fields, military clones, animal clones, rocket and missile technology, interstellar transport to name a few. How about this? Levitation; Today having cars, bikes and people levitate is close to impossible...but that isn't stopping people from trying to figure out how it works and how to fix the problems that prevent objects from levitating. I expect in about 10 years we will have cars, bikes, skateboards and possible shoes that help us levitate and walk above the ground.
Why not? When you have a dream "GO FOR IT!"

Mrs. TaylorI love science! Everything about the world is interesting and never boring. I love to study plants, animals, insects, and people. My favorite subjects are my students who are the most unique organisms on the planet! Categories |
