In the 1800's a potato disease called, "potato blight" destroyed nearly all of the potato crop in Ireland. Most all of the people in Ireland relied on potatoes to feed their families. Soon families were starving to death because they didn't have enough to eat, so many families moved out of the area, came to America and Ireland's population decreased drastically. Lack of food in an ecosystem is a limiting factor. What other kind of limiting factors are there? If food is a limiting factor then so is water, shelter, space and other things like natural disasters, fire, floods, and tornadoes. A big part of living on this beautiful planet is that all of it is susceptible to limiting factors. All of us have to deal with everyday obstacles that might change the course of our life. One might think "well, that's terrible! Is there anywhere on the planet where the conditions are absolutely perfect?" I guess you could search the world, and have quite a lot of fun doing so, but where ever you go, there will be limiting factors.
It's the chance we take living on Earth and for some it makes them stronger. As we learn to adapt and change with changing conditions we become better at facing life and all the challenges that come our way.
