Interaction (between species) refers to positive and negative experiences between species that help the animal or stop growth of populations. It may take the form of competition, predation, parasitism, commensalism or mutualism. We learned today that animals are pretty smart. Organisms will do what they need to survive, but they also know how to help their population survive as well. This means animals are aware of each other, they have relationships with each other, have feelings for each other and care for one another. Sometimes we refer to a mean person as a "filthy animal".... What we need to understand is that like humans we don't understand and tend to make fun of them, animals have different ways we don't understand. By observing humans we come to an understanding of why they act how they do, dress how they do. It's the same with animals and insects. If we observe them we soon understand why they do what they do. Sometimes we even find that their ways are a little like the way we do things.... There are increasing observations of one species of animal that will accept or adopt another species. Scientists can't explain this behavior because it makes no sense....to us, but to the animals, they know perfectly what they are doing, and it's not to eat them either. This is a fascinating topic and I really look forward to your questions and explorations! Remember, before you step on that spider, or swat your dog because he is annoying you. He may be trying to tell you something...? A moment of observation is worth a thousand words....
