Solar System Formation. Scientists believe that the solar system was formed when a cloud of gas and dust in space was disturbed, maybe by the explosion of a nearby star (called a supernova). ... Squeezing made the cloud start to collapse, as gravity pulled the gas and dust together, forming a solar nebula. The various planets are thought to have formed from the solar nebula, the disc-shaped cloud of gas and dust left over from the Sun's formation. The currently accepted method by which the planets formed is accretion, in which the planets began as dust grains in orbit around the central protostar. We believe that the sun formed from a big cloud of gas and dust. The cloud was dark and cold, and its gravity caused it to fall together. The gas that collected at the center got hot from all the other gas falling on it. The steps are pretty simple to understand, maybe too easy to understand....for certain this is a complicated process, but we are interested in the basics for now. This is pretty exciting for all you "explosion-lovers". Our solar system must have started from a very big bang!

This is what me and Elayna thought about the solar system! But we weren't thinking this technical!

I AM TELLING YOU,! AM CORRECT IN THE CREATION OF THE EARTH!!!!! HEAVENLY FATHER MADE A GAS CLOUD SO WE COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO STUDY ABOUT IN SPACE. THEN HE MADE PLANETS AND EVERY TING ON THEM. SERIOUSLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!! HAVE YOU FORGOTEN EVERY CHURCH LESSON YOU HAVE EVER HAD????? I CANT BELIVE YOU PEOPLE!!!!! also good jo on the blog today mrs taylor. bye!!!!!

Grace, I love your perception of space! This is an example of religion vs science. Should we believe religion or science? Actually, we can believe them both. There is no religion without science and there is no science without religion. They go hand in hand. The Solar Nebula Theory is a story put together by scientists based on observations into space, add religion and the WOW factor increases beyond imagination!

THIS IS SO AWSOME BUT HOW DO WE KNOW THAT THIS IS 100% TRUE

We don't know its 100% true, that's what makes science so fun. Astronomers are working on these observations to prove and disprove them for their whole lifetimes!

Why did the big bang happen? Was this just a super big coincidence? Also Why was there another explosion because you said that there was one shock wave that after mars there was an asteroid field....place......why was there another one that didn't wipe them all the way out of our solar system because one is behind mars and one is behind Neptune? Why did they all just go behind Neptune? What was the second shock wave? SOMEBODY HELP ME WITH THESE QUESTIONS!!!!!!!! IT WAS KEEPING ME UP ALL NIGHT!!!!!

Mrs. TaylorI love science! Everything about the world is interesting and never boring. I love to study plants, animals, insects, and people. My favorite subjects are my students who are the most unique organisms on the planet! Categories |
