What is it? The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO, is a multipurpose NASA spacecraft launched in 2009 to make an atlas of the Moon’s features and resources. Since launch, LRO has measured the coldest temperatures in the solar system inside the Moon’s always shadowed craters, detected evidence of water ice at the Moon’s south pole, seen hints of recent geologic activity on the Moon, found newly-formed craters from present-day meteorite impacts, tested space borne laser communication technology, and much more. Check out this website: https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/Gallery/LunarReconnaissanceOrbiter.html If you get bored and want to see what the LRO has been looking at since 2009, these videos will make you SO happy! They have lots of great videos set to music, videos that look like art, I mean, this site could kill serious hours of boredom!! Take a peek at some of the pictures LRO has sent to Earth. It's just amazing, and inspiring that human minds can get together and solve problems like this. I. Just. Love. It.

Mrs. TaylorI love science! Everything about the world is interesting and never boring. I love to study plants, animals, insects, and people. My favorite subjects are my students who are the most unique organisms on the planet! Categories |
