Truth! The moon does revolve around the Earth. The moon orbits the Earth once every 27.322 days. It also takes approximately 27 days for the moon to rotate once on its axis. As a result, the moon does not seem to be spinning but appears to observers from Earth to be keeping almost perfectly still. Scientists call this synchronous rotation. Okay, I probably said too much all at once... we can take this slowly. First, the moon does rotate or spin. Some people would battle me to death on this one, but it does. We see the same side of the moon every. day. So how does the moon spin? Nobody sees it spin! Watch carefully: The reason we see the same side of the moon every. day. is because it takes the moon 27 days to rotate 1 time! "Synchronous rotation is the rotation of an orbiting body on its axis in the same amount of time as it takes to complete a full orbit, with the result that the same face is always turned toward the body it is orbiting. Synchronous rotation is the result of tidal forces that over time slow the rotation of the smaller body until it is synchronized with its period of revolution around the larger body. The Earth's Moon exhibits synchronous rotation, as do a majority of moons in the solar system." The reason the Moon's revolution is so WEIRD is because of the tides on Earth creating a force on the moon and slowing it's rotation. This model of the tidal forces on Earth and the Moon show what it might look like if we could see "forces". As forces go, it's a pretty big one. Have you seen the ocean at low tide and high tide? Where does the water go? It washes back and forth across the world just like water in a bathtub. So. There is more than you ever wanted to know about the Moon's revolution!

I did not know that it takes 27 days for the moon to orbit around the Earth. I thought it was 29 to 30 days.

Can you believe that the tides of earth respond to the moon? Isn't that an awesome fun fact? I think it's really cool. I also think it's really fun how it takes 27 days for the moon to revolve around the earth once.
