Where is the hottest place on Earth? We know that the most direct rays of the sun hit the area between the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. Are all the hottest places there? Actually the hottest place recorded is El Azizia, Libya. It was measured in 1933 at 139 degrees Fahrenheit. The problem with this measurement is that someone on the ground recorded it, and is it the hottest place on Earth, all the time? Today we have great satellite technology that can measure the temperature of the "skin of the planet" whenever they want to. Since this new technology the recorded hottest places on Earth don't even hold a candle to the real hottest places on the Earth! Satellites can get a reading on hard-to-reach, harsh places because they can scan every piece of the Earth's surface. The satellites take what is called "land skin temperature," which tells the amount of heating of a specific area of ground from the sun, the atmosphere and other heat sources. The single highest land skin temperature recorded in any year of the study was found in the Lut Desert in 2005 and measured a stunning 159.3 Fahrenheit. Lut had the highest surface temperature in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2009 as well. That's like oven hot! Does the Desert Lut remain the hottest place on Earth? Not always, the area shifts due to winds and moisture in the air. While the location of the hottest place on Earth might shift from year to year, the conditions that give rise to it remain the same: Dry, rocky and dark-colored lands are good at absorbing heat, while lighter sand will tend to reflect more sunlight. In this Infrared satellite photo the light colored areas are the hottest. It almost looks like its boiling.... Some of the harshest places on Earth are found in deserts and the North and South Pole. These places are either too hot to support much life or too cold to support much life. Here are 10 of the hottest places on Earth: Dallol, Ethiopia is known as the hottest inhabited place on earth, where the average daily maximum temperature is upwards of 106 degrees Fahrenheit. Wadi Halfa, Sudan This city on the border with Egypt has hit 127 degrees Fahrenheit. Death Valley, California This California desert has seen temperatures of 134 degrees Fahrenheit. Update: As of September 14, The World Meteorological Organization has officially recognized Death Valley as the world's hottest place on earth at 136 degrees. Lut Desert, Iran Temperatures of 159.3 degrees have been recorded in this Iranian desert. Tirat Tsvi, Israel This Israeli town, called the hottest place in Asia, has seen the mercury-busting temperature of 129 degrees Fahrenheit. Timbuktu, Mali Timbuktu has seen the sweltering temperature of 130 degrees. Queensland, Australia Steer clear of the Australian state of Queensland if it's going to be 156 degrees Fahrenheit out there. For those confused by how Queensland and the Lut Desert aren't officially hotter than Death Valley, It's due to the fact that "the majority of Earth's hottest spots are simply not being directly measured by ground-based instruments," rather satellites are used. Turfan, China This area in the northwest part of China's Xinjiang province can see temperatures of 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Kebili, Tunisia Temperatures can hit 131 degrees Fahrenheit in Kebili. Ghadames, Libya In Ghadames, the temperature can soar to 131 degrees Fahrenheit. That made me thirsty!
If you made any observations you would notice that in each of those hottest places on Earth, there is still some life. Trees, people, buildings and such. Humans are very good at adapting to harsh conditions and so are other forms of life on the planet. That's what makes us awesome!

That is so cool! I would hate to live in those places! I love the cool weather and so I love it right here in Utah! I going to Mt. Rushmore soon so I'm really happy! I really love car rides because I get flaming hot cheetos every time I go on a car ride! They're just so good and hot and perfect! I can eat a bag with no water! I couldn't survive out there with no water though! Probably couldn't survive with water! Today, I'm changing Mrs. Taylor's blog to PUMPKINS!!

Goodness gracious! Not making any plans to go to those places anytime soon. And I think Utah can get hot. Good grief! Anxious about presenting our posters! Getting more and more restless about it by the minute! Thanks Mrs.Taylor for the post today. I greatly appreciate it.

I'm with Lilly I am totally upset that the book ended like that!!! and , Mrs. Taylor, is your California home close to death valley? because if so, I feel so bad for you. I bet it would be super hot. I feel bad for you for 2. reasons. 1. it would be super hot, and dry. 2. it would make you want to give up your California home. good job on the blog today Mrs. Taylor. got to go, bye!!!!!

Hey I am finally the last one I bet no one will even know that I commented..... But Mrs Taylor does... hopefully. I ma not wanting to go to any of these places any time soon. That would be really hot and I don't know how some people can even live in those places!!!! I am not really furious at he whole "wolf hollow ending" because I was busy doing another thing for class so I technically got Lily to tell me..... which means I did not get the detailed thing so I don't really care.Hey today Lily did not write a giant paragraph!!!...... Is she getting tired? Good job Mary Grace on posting a giant paragraph!!! Wow I am still going.....
