For the first time, researchers have found a person in the United States carrying bacteria resistant to antibiotics of last resort, an alarming development that the top U.S. public health official says could signal "the end of the road" for antibiotics. The antibiotic-resistant strain was found last month in the urine of a 49-year-old Pennsylvania woman. Researchers determined that she carried a strain of E. coli resistant to the antibiotic colistin, according to a study. The authors wrote that the discovery "heralds the emergence of a truly pan-drug resistant bacteria." Doctors are not alarmed and will treat the woman with other antibiotics, but the day is coming that there may not be a cure for this type of bacteria. This goes to show how the world needs creative and passionate young people that love science. These are the people that will take this problem and find the answers to the problem. You are the young people that will need to solve this problem.
Keep working hard to understand how things work, and never lose your curiosity with the tiny things on this planet.
